My Musical Background
I am a Seattle native who returned home in early 2005. Previously I have performed with a piano jazz trio, studio recording, Top 40/covers, original projects (Blues, Rock, Jazz & R&B), Country and Bob Wills/Western Swing as well as Dallas/Ft. Worth musical theatre. Recent experience in the Northwest with the Pop Logic, Riffbrokers, Jonathan Harris, Seeing Blind and I'm currently playing original electronic music (with room for improvisation) with Rik Wright & Zen Tornado http://www.rikwright.com/Content/Content.aspx?page=custom&pgid=623
as well as freelancing. In addition, I teach private lessons, perform studio drum/tech work for London Bridge in Shoreline, Soundhouse Studio in Ballard, Orbit Audio in Pioneer Square & Fastback Studios in Shoreline. A University of North Texas Alum music major, who was part of one of their many championship drum lines (1988-89) as well as The "Skunks" Electric Jazz Ensemble and various small groups and large choir. My studies include: Jim Rupp (Columbus Pro Percussion-Columbus, Oh.), Ed Soph (UNT), Alex Acuna (Weather Report), Sonny Emory (Earth Wind & Fire), Gary Chaffee & Steve Houghton (Univ. of San Antonio workshop). Recently with, Bill Matthews-Djembe: Matt Jorgensen (+451): Simone LaDrumma-Congas, Djembe: Geoff Johns-Djembe: Matt Chamberlain-studio sessions... and I'm continually learning. "There is nothing better than music as a means for the upliftment of the soul" -Inayat Khan

My Teaching Philosophy
I am there to open up the student to the possibilities inherent in their own musical personality. To explain and illustrate fundamentals...rudiments, posture, breathing, technique, reading, styles, soloing etc. and to help the student reach his or her goals. I use various media (method books, magazine articles, CDs, DVDs etc.) to help re-enforce concepts. Often I will record (audio/video) a student’s lesson to help illuminate specific areas and give them a reference point for growth. In addition we can work on learning a favorite song note for note. I have over 200 songs transcribed or I can write out a chart of your song. I only request that the students are serious about investing in themselves.

Rates And Availability
I teach in my private studio in Seattle conveniently located near the Magnolia bridge on Elliot Ave. approximately 5 minutes from Downtown. I am willing to travel for a small additional fee within a 5-mile radius. I charge $20 per half hour or $40 per hour with a nominal fee if I drive to your home. Discounts available for pre-payment of more than one month in advance at your initial lesson.
